A new public and private investment proposal could bring upgrades and increased air traffic to the Gary Airport.

The proposal calls for $100 million in investments over 40 years by firms including Chicago's Loop Capital and Guggenheim Securities.

Under the plan, the city and airport would share in future profits.

The Gary Airport Authority has final review of the proposals and could take action by the end of month.
