Lincoln Park Elementary annex approved

December 10, 2013 (CHICAGO)

"I would appreciate if there's a disagreement it doesn't get characterized as a lie. We tried to talk... it's great we get to speak for two minutes and then we don't have any conversation," said one dissenter.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel chaired the meeting. The commission's approval means an $18 million addition to the elementary school can proceed.

The school's enrollment is beyond capacity. Opponents favored redrawing district boundaries to ease overcrowding instead of building the new addition.
