Gov. Quinn pushes to raise Illinois minimum wage

December 18, 2013 (CHICAGO)

He commented on the issue during a tour of Saint Pius V Church in Pilsen. The current state minimum is $8.25 per hour.

Quinn wants it raised at least $10 per hour.

"Those who are claiming wrongly that this will limit economic growth are just plain wrong because the studies have shown over and over again that when you raise the minimum wage you create more jobs," said Gov. Quinn.

Republican candidate for governor Kirk Dillard says raising the minimum wage won't create jobs and he called it an election year stunt.
