Free pizza Friday at new Lakeview restaurant

December 20, 2013 (CHICAGO)

Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza opened its first Chicago location at 953 W. Belmont Avenue on Thursday. To celebrate the grand opening, Blaze will offer free build-your-own artisanal pizzas to its Facebook fans on Friday from 10 a.m. - midnight. Free pizzas can be obtained by showing servers that a customer likes Blaze's Facebook page on a mobile device.

The new fast casual restaurant is located between Sheffield and Clark, directly adjacent to the Belmont L.

Blaze Pizza uses an interactive assembly line format (similar to Chipotle Mexican Grill) that allows guests to create their own custom artisanal pizzas, each for around $7, a news release said.

The company says for each pie, a dough ball made from scratch is pressed into an 11-inch crust. Next, guests choose from more than 40 sauces, veggies, meats and cheeses. Pizzas are "fast-fire'd" in a "blazing-hot oven" and ready in 3 minutes, a company news release said.

Blaze Pizza's menu also features salads, lemonades, craft beer, wine and S'more Pies. For pizza fans with specific dietary needs, Blaze Pizza offers gluten-free dough and vegan cheese. The restaurant also offers online ordering.
