Chicago kids recite world leaders' speeches for contest

Children in grades 1-12 were asked to learn the speeches of such world leaders as Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln and Nelson Mandela.

Gaining self-esteem through public speaking was the goal of a contest Saturday at Rainbow Push headquarters.

Children in grades 1-12 were asked to learn the speeches of such world leaders as Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln and Nelson Mandela.

The speeches focused on conflict resolution, negotiations and diplomacy.
