Santa group sends lump of coal to Warner Bros.; 'Polar Express' train group would need to pay license fee to keep name from 2004 film

January 11, 2014 (AURORA, Ill.)

Warner Brothers' legal department informed all Chicago area park districts offering Polar Express train trips that they'd have to pay a hefty licensing fee if they wanted to keep the name.

So at a gathering of Santas and Mrs. Clauses near Blackberry Farm Saturday, they announced a "Lump of Coal" award will be sent to Warner Brothers.

The gathering was initially supposed to be a celebration for all northern Illinois Santas and Mrs. Clauses, but the legal action changed the mood of the event.
