Three people were hospitalized Saturday after a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

Police say the victims were in a blue 2008 Buick SUV that broke down on the 71st Street exit ramp off the southbound lanes at approximately 1:30 a.m. While they waited for help, someone pulled up in black Dodge Charger with orange stripes and fired shots into their vehicle.

Four people were inside the SUV, including a 27-year-old man and three women.

According to Illinois State Police, the man who shot four times. A 19-year-old young woman in the backseat was shot six times, and a 24-year-old woman in the backseat was shot three times. The fourth person, a woman riding in the front passenger seat, was not hurt.

Two of the injured were transported to Stroger Hospital, while the third was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. All were said to be in stable condition and were expected to be OK.

Police said later Saturday no suspects were in custody as they continued their investigation.
