The fire started just after 12 a.m. in a home in the 8300-block of South Maryland. The fire was struck out about a half hour later.
One 53-year-old woman went to the hospital, but her condition was not known immediately. The other four people inside the house escaped but could not go back in because damage to the home was so bad.
There was no immediate word on a cause.
