Seahawks Coleman surprises hearing-impaired twins

January 31, 2014 (SAN FRANCISCO)

Seahawks running back Derrick Coleman met personally with 9-year-old identical twins Riley and Erin Kovalcik. They're responsible for a letter that captured the imagination of thousands on Twitter.

Like Coleman, the twins are hearing impaired. Coleman is the first legally deaf offensive player in NFL history.

Riley wrote Coleman telling him, "Dear my insperation [sic], Derrick Coleman. I know how you feel. I also have hearing aids. Just try your best. I have faif [sic] in you Derrick good job on January 20th game. Go Seattle Seahawks!"

The letter went on to say, "Here are things we have in common. I where [sic] two hearing aids. I love sports. Other things are I'm a identical twin and my twin where's [sic] one hearing aid too!"

Coleman had a pretty nice gift for the girls – tickets to the Super Bowl.
