DUI charges after driver hits IDOT truck on Kennedy Expressway

February 3, 2014 (CHICAGO)

The IDOT worker was getting into the truck about 11 p.m. after helping a motorist fix a flat tire on the southbound shoulder near Addison Street when a 22-year-old man driving an SUV slammed into the back of the truck, Illinois State Police Sgt. Rodney Collins said.

The IDOT worker suffered minor injuries to his left arm and was taken to Presence Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center in good condition, Collins said.

The 22-year-old SUV driver was taken in good condition with minor facial lacerations to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, he said.

Police said alcohol was a factor in the crash and DUI charges were filed against the driver of the SUV.
