The fight promoter told CNN earlier he picked DMX out of a pool of thousands who applied through e-mail to fight Zimmerman. But a spokesman for DMX says while the rapper has promised -- in more colorful language -- to beat Zimmerman in a bout, no contract has been signed.
According to the rep, "DMX will release an official statement if and when an agreement is made."
Zimmerman -- who was acquitted last year of murder in the death of Trayvon Martin -- says the celebrity boxing match was his idea. If DMX signs on, the two are expected to face off for three rounds in a Pay-Per-View fight.
