Valerie Jarrett, White House senior advisor, was in Chicago to talk about President Barack Obama's plans to boost the economy.

Jarrett joined Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel at the panel, "Strong Cities, Strong Nation," hosted by World Business Chicago. Jarrett's mission is to further the president's agenda to grow the nation's economy.

"You have large employers, small business in neighborhoods," Jarrett said of why she was in Chicago.

She said she's on the road to see what can be done without legislation to boost the economy and prepare a diverse workforce in the next generation.
