The Welcome Home Heroes program has already helped more than 1,100 people.
Among them, Stephene Maxwell. She served in the National Guard and was deployed to Iraq. The program provides money for a down payment, low interest rate loans and a mortgage tax credit.
"Twenty-four years of service has been very good to me as we can see, paid off in many different ways. It made me a better citizen," Maxwellsaid.
According to Quinn's office, the $5 million announced Wednesday will help an additional 500 military families.
