Northwestern responds to student lawsuit

February 21, 2014 (EVANSTON, Ill.)

In a federal lawsuit the woman says Professor Peter Ludlow bought her alcoholic drinks and then groped her at his apartment in February 2012. She was underage at the time.

The professor's attorney released a statement earlier this week that said: "Mr. Ludlow did not assault nor did he engage in any inappropriate conduct. We have corroborating evidence that (the alleged victim) propositioned Mr. Ludlow. He refused her advances."

In court papers obtained by Eyewitness News, the university says it conducted a thorough investigation of the allegations and took corrective actions in the case.

They also say the university has an effective policy for reporting and redressing sexual harassment and other types of sex discrimination.
