Police are still on the scene at Michigan Avenue and Chestnut. They suspect the person may have jumped from one of the high floors.
A witness said she heard a loud crash, but didn't immediately realize it was a person who had caused it. Witnesses said a man who appeared to be in his 20s or early 30s set down a drink and then leaned over the railing on the 7th floor of the indoor atrium. He fell through the atrium to the first floor of the shopping center, where he died.
Police say that early signs point to a suicide, but are continuing to investigate.
