Curie High School basketball players speak after forfeiting all wins, city championship

March 1, 2014 (CHICAGO)

They gathered with family and supporters Saturday at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition.

An investigation found seven players were academically ineligible to compete since the start of the season.

Last week, Curie won the city crown at Chicago State.

But Chicago Public Schools says the championship title has been revoked.

One player says the team doesn't deserve this.

"I just hope that justice is served and that we get out championship back, we just get what we deserve and I don't think it should be taken away from us," said Curie High School's Alondre Pickens.

Curie could play in the state tournament if the Illinois High School Association allows it.

A decision may be made as early as Monday.
