Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade

March 2014 (CHICAGO)

Everyone's Irish on St. Patrick's Day -- and ABC 7 Chicago continued the celebration of a grand Chicago tradition with the 31st annual broadcast of the St. Patrick's Day Parade which will air on ABC 7.

ABC 7's meteorologist Mike Caplan, reporter Frank Mathie, former ABC 7 Anchor Joel Daly and Roseann Finnegan LeFevour, Midwest director of the American Ireland Fund teamed up to host the coverage of bagpipers, floats, marching bands and marching politicians that make this one of the most celebrated events in Chicago each year.

The 2014 St. Patrick's Day Parade Grand Marshal was none other than Chicago Blackhawks President and CEO, John McDonough, who is credited for being responsible for one of sports' biggest success stories. The Guest of Honor for the parade is Father Gavin Quinn, Chaplain, Chicago and Cook County Building Trades Council.

Thousands of marchers, parade units, marching bands, floats, horses and a few leprechauns were featured as the parade proceeds from Balbo Drive, north on Columbus Drive to Monroe Street. Always a must-see in the parade, the Shannon Rovers bagpipers bring a touch of Ireland to Chicago as they have for the past 88 years.

Once again this year, ABC 7 Chicago's float featuring Tanja Babich, Stacey Baca, Tracy Butler, Steve Dolinsky, Mark Giangreco, Evelyn Holmes and Phil Schwarz, was part of the St. Patrick's Day Parade tradition.

Edgar Vargas is the executive producer of the parade broadcast.
