Hammond man, 18, charged in South Side shooting

March 29 2014 (CHICAGO)

Jeremiah Jones, 18, of Hammond, Indiana, is charged with two felony counts of attempted murder in connection with the shooting that happened last week in the 7500 block of South Racine Avenue.

A 21-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were standing on the sidewalk when Jones allegedly walked up and fired shots at the pair, hitting the younger man in the head and hands, and the older man in the side, police said.

The 21-year-old was taken to a hospital with injuries thought to be non-life-threatening, and the 31-year-old declined treatment at the scene, police said.

Jones was arrested Thursday afternoon and is scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
