'Tux for Teens' outfitting boys for prom

April 12, 2014 (CHICAGO)

The Chicago Urban League's "Tux for Teens" program hosted an event to help young men find a tuxedo and formal dress shoes for prom.

Experts from Men's Wearhouse helped them navigate color schemes and tie selections.

The students were specially chosen to take part in this event and Tux for Teens is also picking up the tickets for prom.

"It's good cuz I never wore a lot of tuxes in life," said Morgan Park senior Derrick Elmore.

"They've been very excited," said project lead Marcus Spencer. "We've been talking to the parents, we've been talking to the schools to make sure they're engaged, and they've been very helpful."

Twelve students were chosen to take part this year.

Tux for Teens is planning to expand the program next year.
