Rocco Sette was pronounced dead at the scene at Belmont Senior Apartments. He was found wedged into a garbage chute that runs the entire height of the 7-floor building by a custodian.
Emergency officials were told he fell. Police launched a death investigation, which means they are not ready to say if it was an accident or foul play.
No one from Belmont Senior Apartments commented officially, but residents say the garbage chute is not all that big and has a spring loaded door. Residents say they are skeptical someone would have fallen into the chute.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
