Car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens. Now a new study looks at why young drivers get into accidents.

Talking and texting while behind the wheel do contribute to some crashes, but a study published in the Journal of Adolescent Health finds several other factors, including inexperience and immaturity.

Another hazard is having friends in the car. Researchers also found teen drivers often try to do other tasks while behind the wheel.
