Stations of the Cross was acted out along 26th Street in Little Village Friday morning.
In years past the mainly Latino community participated in Via Cruces around individual parishes, but for the first time, six parishes joined for this Good Friday procession.
Thousands joined in as the procession moved west and volunteers played the parts. No actors and no real violence, but a convincing theatrical production.
Organizers said the message of unity is particularly powerful in our modern times.
