Wendy Jaehn, Executive Director with the Chicago Area Runners Association, joined us live from Montrose Harbor to tell us about the race and the causes. A part of the proceeds from the Lakefront 10 Miler will benefit One Fund Boston, and runners can buy blue "Laces for Boston" to support the bombing victims.
Also, part of the proceeds from the race go to the CARA Road Scholars, a mentoring and running program that teaches at-risk Chicago Public High School students how to train for a half marathon in July 2014. The program increases self-esteem and helps with goal setting.
