Person of interest in Northfield shooting released without charges

April 21, 2014 (CHICAGO)

The person of interest has not been named, but is identified as a 17-year-old man, according to officials. He was taken into custody by Chicago police late Friday night and transported to Northfield for questioning about the March 26 shooting on North Happ Road.

According to a release from the Northfield Police Department, the 17-year-old was placed in a police line-up but the victim never showed up. Therefore, the person of interest was released without charges.

Northfield police say the home at 815 North Happ Road remains under "special watch." Unconfirmed media reports indicate this home is owned by Chicago rapper Chief Keef's manager. However police have not commented on a possible link between Chief Keef, whose name is Keith Cozart, and the shooting.

In March, Northfield Police Chief William Lustig described the shooting as an "isolated incident."
