Kelly A. Koranda, 36, of Logansport, Ind., was stopped for a traffic infraction on Route 35 just south of 500 North in northern Starke County. When her behavior and speech made officers suspicious, she was transported to Indiana University Health Starke Hospital for drug testing. During the administration of the test, a nurse discovered baggies of heroin in her underwear. Koranda then admitted to swallowing ten packets heroin prior to being stopped, as well as hiding the other packets in her underwear.
In total, officers recovered 172 baggies of heroin from Koranda, which weighed approximately 36 grams.
Koranda was admitted to the hospital for observation due to her ingestion of the drugs, and was arrested upon release on April 27.
