Aidan Garcia is out of the hospital and recovering at home in East Chicago.
Police say the boy was walking on his own block when the pit bull bit him on both legs.
Now the dog's owner faces four city code violations, including not having the proper restraint for the dog. The case will be in court Friday.
The animal control department also removed a second pit bull from the owner's home.
The dog's owner has told ABC7 she does not want to keep the dog that attacked the boy.
