2 in custody after shots fired at Robbins police

May 2, 2014 (ROBBINS, Ill.)

Robbins police responded to a call of shots fired near 137th and Central Park around 3:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Police said while patrolling the area around an hour later, they observed two suspects with what appeared to be guns in their hands run toward a SUV. An officer attempted to approach the vehicle and was fired upon, police said, and that officer returned fire. Police said they then chased the vehicle to the 136th and Monticello, where the suspects fled on foot.

One suspect was taken into custody after a brief foot chase, and the second offender later turned himself into the police station.

No one was injured.
