The new Barack Obama College Prep High School will use $60 million of the plan, with another $22 million going towards modernization work at Lane Tech College Prep.
The plan is nearly triple what the district proposed in 2013. District leaders said much of the work will be paid for by issuing $260 million in bonds.
Barack Obama College Prep's North Side location has been criticized by some, being that the location is less than ten blocks from Walter Payton College Prep.
