Possible compromise in works to save Illinois Poison Center

May 7, 2014 (CHICAGO)

The I-Team reported that some emergency groups are angry about a plan to redirect money from existing 911 cell phone fees to help the center. Now, State Senator Don Harmon says as part of a compromise the so-called "two-cent solution" would gradually be phased in starting this year.

By 2018, $0.02 from each cell phone fee would go to poison control and the rest of the money from the underused fund would then go directly to 911.

This latest plan must now be considered by the full Senate.
