FAMILY HOLIDAY GET TOGETHER
The green is festive, but in a hue that is subtle, dark, chic and sophisticated. The long sleeves, shorter hemline and boots make the outfit an appropriate choice for any daytime holiday event. For a daytime party, you don't want to go with something too loud, too showy or overly sparky. Save those for evening events! This look is sleek and the boots give it a little bit of subtle edge.
Trend: Green - it's a big color of the season and always popular during the holidays
Boutique: Chalk in Evanston
The Dress: Color-block dress from Jil Sander Navy (on sale for $210)
The evening cocktail party with friends is that time to take you bold, most fun wardrobe pieces out on the town - like these great red shoes! The fit and flare dress is the perfect classic choice for a cocktail party and will always look feminine. This look incorporates a lot of trends that have been popular recently, including black and white and bows. With black and white you want to make sure to add a pop of color so you look festive - red shoes and gold and black accessories.
Trend: Black and White (and polka dots!)
The Dress: Eliza J "Dot Bodice Faille Fit & Flare" ($158)
OFFICE HOLIDAY PARTY
The holidays are all about shiny fabrics. This dress accomplishes that in a way that stands out, but isn't too much for the office. Most office parties take place on weekdays. So you want to wear something that's subtly festive, but something that will also be taken seriously during the day when paired with a black cardigan or fitted blazer. Unique patterns and prints are a holiday must-have. This dress gives you holiday shimmer without blending in or looking cliche. The length and cut make it appropriate for an office party. This is a dress that will stand out for its pattern and get lots of compliments, without being over the top "holiday" during your work day. When it comes to office parties, play with color, play with pattern and sparkle. But DON'T play with fit and cut! The loose fit and appropriate length make this an appropriate choice for the office.
Trend: Unique, intricate prints
Boutique: Another 20 in the West Loop
The Dress: Mara Hoffman shift dress (on sale for $162.40)
NEW YEAR'S EVE
Sparkle AND warmth. What more could you ask for on New Year's Eve? In Chicago, it's one of the coldest holidays of the year. So it's important to think through your outerwear. It's a perfect opportunity to pair your sparkle with winter white.
How cute were all the model's hairstyles? They were all done by the fabulous ladies at Blowtique.
