CHICAGO (WLS) -- Governor Pat Quinn announced the state is investing in a new innovation exchange to help create jobs in Chicago.

Quinn announced the state will invest $1 million in a partnership with the University of Chicago.

The Chicago Innovation Exchange will help provide resources for the university's students and faculty, as well as local entrepreneurs, to turn their ideas into start-up companies and help create jobs.

"I think it's extremely important to economic development in our state, to jobs, to entrepreneurship, to innovation," Quinn said.

President Barack Obama will be in town Sunday and Monday at Chicago State University for fundraisers for Governor Quinn.

Bill Clinton will also headline an event for Quinn on Tuesday, and Vice President Joe Biden will be in town for the governor on Wednesday.
