One Summer Chicago youth employment program adds 3,000 jobs

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office announced Friday that 3,000 new jobs have been added to the city's summer youth employment program.

Online registration for the One Summer Chicago program is open from Monday, March 14 to Sunday, May 22. Registration is open to Chicago residents between the ages of 14 to 24.

One Summer Chicago is expected to serve nearly 30,000 youths in 2016, offering opportunities large and small, from office clerical work and bike repair to urban agriculture and outdoor forestry work. The program hopes to give Chicago youth a chance to earn a paycheck for meaningful work experiences.

One Summer Chicago was the largest jobs program in the city in 2015. Top employers include: After School Matters, Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Parks Department.
