Australian police to honor fallen Chicago officers, ride Route 66
Excitement is building in Chicago and halfway around the world for a fundraiser that begins Thursday.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Excitement is building in Chicago and halfway around the world for a fundraiser that begins Thursday.

A group of 35 Australian police officers visiting the city will honor fallen Chicago police officers with a wreath-laying ceremony at Gold Star Families Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Thursday. Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson will join them.

Excitement is building in Chicago and halfway around the world for fundraiser that begins Thursday.

The officers will then rent motorcycles in Chicago to begin their epic trip along Route 66 to Santa Monica, Calif., to raise money for a great cause.

Australian Federal Police Sergeant Louise McGregor and 100 Club of Chicago's Joe Ahern joined ABC7 News This Morning to explain more about the fundraiser.
