AG Madigan asks Dept. of Education to help fight student loan scams

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is asking for the U.S. Department of Education's help in combating student loan debt relief scammers.

Many have become victims of student loan debt relief scams and Madigan's office has taken actions against the scammers. Now, in a letter to the Secretary of Education, Madigan urged the department to provide certified, non-profit credit counselors for student loan borrowers.
