CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago Public School officials say they will not offer a one-year contract extension to the Chicago Teachers Union.

CPS spokesman Bill McCaffrey said the school district does not have the $105 million needed to do that with a 3 percent raise.

McCaffrey also says CPS is hoping to work with the CTU on the financial challenges facing the district, including working with lawmakers in Springfield.

CTU says the negotiations will continue on a new contract.
