Dr. Jose Torres, Elgin School District U-46 superintendent, steps down

ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) -- The superintendent of the second largest school district in Illinois has stepped down and taken a new job.

Dr. Jose Torres will leave his job at Elgin School District U-46 to become president of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora. Torres has been superintendent for six years.

He will start his new job next month. The U-46 school board will begin looking for a successor Monday.
