HINSDALE, Ill. (WLS) -- The Hinsdale High School Teachers Association (HHSTA) announced that teachers will not strike on the first day of school. The Hinsdale Township school board is asking teachers not to strike during the school year.

The HHSTA and school board have been struggling to reach a deal on a new contract. Teachers voted to strike on May 29.

"We're heartened that the union has decided that working with our students is in the best interest of everyone," said school board president Dr. Richard Skoda.

Future negotiation sessions are scheduled for July 29 and August 5. The first day of school in Hinsdale is August 22.
