CHICAGO (WLS) -- Horizons for Youthis a non-profit organization that supports Chicago students with need-based scholarships, one-on-one mentoring, tutoring and enrichment programs. Currently, the organization serves nearly 200 students between kindergarten and twelfth grade. On Saturday, Feb. 7, the "On Cloud Nine" Gala will raise money for Horizons for Youth. ESPN Radio host and ABC 7 contributor Tom Waddle is the event host.
Kent Barnett co-founded the "On Cloud Nine" gala in 2000 to honor the memory of his daughter Paige, who passed away at 18 months old. Barnett and Gabe Ybarra, a Horizons for Youth student in the fourth grade, came into our studio to tell us about the organization and the gala.
