School tries to set world record for most Einstein costumes

BERKELEY, Calif. -- Here's one for the record books -- the Black Pine Circle School in Berkeley is awaiting official word that they've made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for dressing up like a famous scientist.

At the speed of light, the entire school transformed into a sea of white hair for a shot at a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Albert Einstein.

The rules were strict. Students explained they had to have, "The pants, the jacket, the button up shirt, a tie, the wig, and the mustache."

Even with all the preparation, the process of actually setting and documenting the world record was complex. Einstein would probably appreciate; it was a very scientific process.

"You have to have stewards and counters and witnesses and videos and photographs and wristbands with numbers," said school volunteer Karen Zukor.

The students were counted on the way in. And then the tough part -- they had to stay put for 10 minutes.

Of course, that was a golden opportunity to learn about that great scientist and about his famous equation.

All too soon, it was over. The final count was 319.
