Teacher accused of sex assault, attempted prostitution

NEW YORK -- A New York City public school teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenager and offering to pay the teen to have sex with other adults.

Waris Grant, 37, a teacher at PS 256 in Bedford-Stuyvesant, is accused of inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old boy who is not a student at the school.

The Department of Education says Grant has been removed from the classroom, "While the allegations against Mr. Grant are not school-related, they are deeply disturbing. DOE took swift action to immediately remove him from the classroom, and he will remain away from students."
