Freddy Kenton Jr.'s music showcases Latin roots
Freddy Kenton, Jr., composer, musician and singer just released his new single, "Amor a Primera Vista."

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Freddy Kenton, Jr., composer, musician and singer just released his new single, "Amor a Primera Vista" or "Love at First Sight." He just returned from a promotional tour of Miami. His band plays Bachata merengue, music that is a blend of percussion and swing.

"I come from Chicago," says Kenton. "We played in different markets, and I am proud of representing Chicago as the first Bachata merengue band."

Kenton's new single and video is emotional and passionate. It is about falling in love, one of his favorite subjects. His Dominican and Puerto Rican background certainly gives him and edge when it comes to playing Latin music with a beat.

Kenton comes from a music background. His father is Freddy Kenton Sr., an international star with more than a dozen albums to his name, who toured the world and still performs.

"Music is in my veins," Kenton says. "My relatives were great meregueros in the 80's and 90's, but my father was an international star all over the world. I learned a lot from him and he still performs."

He appears throughout the country and at a number of venues in Chicago including Siboney Restaurant on the North Side. His next single is also about love, and will be released in February.

Kenton will also be on tour in South America promoting Chicago and his Domincan-Puerto Rican roots and music.
