Halle Berry in Chicago to promote new movie

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Actress Halle Berry is in Chicago promoting her first movie in almost four years.

In her new movie "Kidnap," the Academy Award winner plays a mother who risks everything to save her child.

"When I read this script it resonated with me, first of all. The most horrific thing happens as a mother to see your child snatched right before your eyes and feel completely helpless but all the while knowing you had to do something. You can't just stand there and let this happen. And when I read that I just had a lump in my throat and in my heart," Berry said during her appearance on Windy City Live.

ABC7's Janet Davies caught up with Halle Berry at Tuesday night's premiere

at the Showplace Icon Theater in the South Loop.

"We're so used to seeing movies where men save the day and save the kids. But to be a mom and be a woman and actually save the day and emerge as a heroine at the end of the movie is a pretty cool thing to do," Berry said.
