CICERO, Ill. (WLS) -- Forget Spain, Chicagoans have their own version of the world-renowned Running of the Bulls
The Great Bull Run took place Saturday at the Hawthorn Race Course in Cicero.
Runners were chased by a herd of bulls down a quarter-mile stretch of race track and the 1,500-pound bulls run at a clip of about 35 miles per hour.
Safety was a big concern after a Chicago man was gored during the running of the bulls in Pamplona earlier this week.
Organizers of the Hawthorn event say that won't happen because the horns of the bulls are not sharpened.
