Nikki Reed divorcing Paul McDonald after 2 years; Katharine McPhee also divorcing

Actress Nikki Reed has filed for divorce from Paul McDonald two and a half years after they were married.

People.com says Reed, who turned 26 on May 17, cites irreconcilable differences in the divorce papers. It comes two months after they announced that things weren't working out between them. They met in April of 2011 when Paul McDonald was on "American Idol" and the "Twilight" actress was promoting her movie "Red Riding Hood."

They married five months later. They have no kids, but do have an album they recorded together that comes out sometime this year.

It's been a bad week for divorces for former "American Idol" contestants. People magazine reports Katharine McPhee has filed for divorce from Nick Cokas, her husband of six years. She was the "Idol" runner-up in 2006.

McDonald finished eighth on "Idol" in 2011.
