PALATINE, Ill. (WLS) -- Hundreds of people gather to celebrate Independence Day weekend at a parade in northwest suburban Palatine.

Residents and families lined the parade route Saturday morning to watch floats and marching bands.

Some lawmakers also participated in the parade.

U.S. Senator Mark Kirk rode in the parade, as well as Bruce Rauner, the Republican nominee for Illinois governor.
