Prince autopsy complete but results are pending
CHANHASSEN, Minn. (WLS) -- Prince's autopsy was completed just after 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office, but results are pending. His body was released to his family shortly before 3 p.m.
The Carver County Sheriff's Office said the investigation in Prince's death is ongoing but that they have no reason to believe it was a suicide. They said he was alone at home at the time of his death and that emergency services were called by friends and colleagues who were unable to get in touch with Prince Thursday morning.
Police also said that they did not receive calls to Paisley Park involving Prince in the past year, though they said it was not unusual to receive calls at Paisley Park in general due to the concerts and parties that were held there.
Martha Weaver, spokesperson for Midwest Medical Examiner's Office, said that it will take several days, even weeks, to receive full autopsy results and determine cause of death. The Medical Examiner's Office would not release any definitive information on Prince's death.
The Quad Cities Airport confirmed they received a call about an inbound aircraft carrying an "unresponsive person" around 1:30 a.m. last Friday, April 15, according to Airport Police/Fire Chief Jeff Patterson, but there is no confirmation that it was Prince's plane.

Cities, celebrities and music lovers across the country were shocked when news broke Thursday that legendary artist Prince had died at age 57.
The United Center and Prudential building were awash in Prince's signature color. Dozens of landmarks from New York to Los Angeles did the same.
There were street parties overnight, including a celebration in Minneapolis outside First Avenue, where "Purple Rain" was filmed. Thousands danced and sang while bands performed the music icon's hits.
Earlier in the day, hundreds gathered outside prince's suburban home carrying bouquets, balloons and signs. His sister had this to say to the crowd.
"Thank you for loving him, y'all. He loved each and every one of you," she said.
In Brooklyn, filmmaker Spike Lee set up a DJ outside his home and launched an impromptu block party where hundreds danced and sang in the street.
Fans are now waiting to learn how Prince died. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
He was found unresponsive in an elevator Thursday. His representatives said he had been fighting a flu virus for several weeks.
TMZ reports Prince was treated for a drug overdose after making an emergency landing in Illinois last Friday and left the hospital earlier than advised.
