Teacher makes unusual contract with students
If their teacher gets a phone call from Taylor Swift, some students will get to skip their final exam.

BILLINGS, MT -- A group of high school students needs only a phone call to get out of their final exam this semester. However, that call needs to come from a superstar.

"Pretty much all semester I've been talking about Taylor Swift," world history teacher Colter Pierce told KTVQ-TV.

Pierce struck a deal with his students that if Taylor Swift calls him, the students will be excused from taking the final exam.

Sophomore Ike Stoner came up with the idea, but he wasn't serious -- at first.

"It was kind of a joke really," said Ike. "I just wanted to see if I could get more followers on Twitter."

Stoner tweeted about the deal, posting a picture shaking hands with Pierce. Stoner's friend and classmate, Ashton Goodell, shared the agreement on Facebook.

"It got out of hand fast. It escalated quickly," Goodell told KTVQ.

The deal may have started out as a joke, but people are not kidding about their support online.

"From 22,000, 40,000, 45,000, 49,000," said Pierce, referring to comments, likes and shares. "Then when I went to bed last night, its 55,000. Got here this morning, 83,000. And at last check 107,000. According to our math, it's about 100 a minute."

Pierce said that even if the Swift does not call, it's still a good lesson for the students to learn.

"It's not so much as trying to get these kids out of their final as it is seeing that celebrities are still normal, down to earth people." said Pierce. "I think that's the biggest driving force behind this."

According to KTVQ, Taylor Swift has not yet called, but Pierce said final exams are still two weeks away.
