CHICAGO (WLS) -- Mumford & Sons took the stage at Cricket Hill near Montrose Beach Friday night after the concert was postponed earlier this week due to weather.

The concert producers said all the rain earlier this week made it difficult for the crew to complete the work on time. The lead singer, Marcus Mumford, even took to the airwaves on WXRT with afternoon host Marty Lennartz.

"They just wanted to make sure that all the conditions were perfect for this show because this is the biggest headlining show of their entire career outside of London. The biggest show in the United States and they chose to do it in Chicago," Lennartz said.

Because the show was delayed from Wednesday, tickets which had been sold out were suddenly available.

"I didn't have a ticket prior to this morning when some more tickets got released, and here I am," fan Jason Mousseau said.

"It worked out pretty well because I had plans on Wednesday and ended up having tickets available," fan Corbin Swaggert said.

With 30,000 fans in the neighborhood for the concert, the extra traffic aides on hand had their hands full. However, most fans seemed to be ok with taking a long walk to get to the show.

"We parked down at Ravenswood and we've been walking, maybe 30 minutes," fan Amy Black said.

JamUSA Productions paid the Chicago Park District $165,000 to perform at the park, including a $65,000 fee because the date was postponed. Ald. James Cappleman says he wants this to work.

"We want this to work well because we want to have future events," Cappleman, of the 46th Ward, said.

Some neighbors complained about the crowds and the noise from the show. Outside the gates, ABC7's decibel meter redlined, but the complaints were few. Some neighbors even enjoyed the concert for free.
