BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (WLS) -- Cheri Russell had just finished celebrating Mother's Day on Sunday with her husband and two children when she started getting back-to-back contractions.

The pregnant mom wasn't due for another month, but she and her husband immediately headed to the hospital.

However, they were too late. Just an exit away from Amita Health Bolingbrook Hospital on Interstate 55 in southwest suburban Bolingbrook, Cheri Russell's water broke.

Husband Chris Russell pulled their Chevy Tahoe over to the side of the expressway.

"I never thought I'd give birth to a baby in a truck, on a highway. I didn't think I was going to be one of those moms," Cheri Russell said.

But Charles (Charlie) Xavier Russell "just came flying out."

"I'm like, 'No way, we still got a little more time after the water breaks.' I turn around and the baby is in the back seat," Chris Russell said.

And dad captured the aftermath in Snapchat videos.

"I knew that it was something that I would want to so I could show Charlie when he's older," Chris Russell said.

The proud parents, who already had two children, said that it took teamwork.

From their hospital room on Monday, they even have a view of where Charlie was born.

Both mom and baby were doing well and will be headed home in a couple days.
