CHICAGO (WLS) -- Bundled up in winter gear, children hunted for Easter eggs in the first outdoor event at Maggie Daley Park in Chicago on Friday.

"We live close by so we have just been keeping tabs on them and everything they have to offer. It's great," Heidi Singh said.

The 125 kids didn't seem to mind the cold as they counted the eggs in their baskets.

"I think there are 50. I think there are 50!" Ryder said.

"They are still having fun despite [the weather]," Kyle Kovacs, Ryder's dad, said. "Ryder obviously got as many eggs as he possibly could. And they are going back inside for warm fun."

The kids- and Easter bunny- took part in arts and crafts inside the building after the egg hunt.

The Maggie Daley Park, named after the late wife of former Mayor Richard Daley, opened in December 2014.
